In 2003, Ghosts of the Abyss by James Cameron was released as the first full-length 3-D IMAX feature filmed with the Reality Camera System. This camera system used the latest HD video cameras, not film, and was built for Cameron by Vince Pace, to his specifications. The same camera system was used to film Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over (2003), Aliens of the DeepIMAX (2005), and The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl in 3-D (2005). Thus started the deep impact of 3D movies after its fall in the earlier phase. And it is no surprise that it peaked again with James Cameron’s Avatar, which is touted as biggest blockbuster of the decade.
